Sarah Montani presents sculptures at architect DaeWha Kang's STOA NOW Gallery
Our phyiscal Gallery Stoa Now GmbH is located Schwarztorstrasse 18-20-22 in the capital of Swizterland in Bern. Our virtual gallery was created by Architect DaeWha Kang.
How can we create architectural powerhouses in the digital world? Architect DaeWha Kang, former senior associate of the renowned Zaha Hadid, has opened a unique gallery in the Metaverse. DaeWha Kang is thus transferring the timeless values of physical architecture to the digital. The collaboration to create the mystical gallery "STOA NOW" came about with Jinha Lee, co-founder of Spatial. Spatial.io is a virtual reality platform where avatars can converse and collaborate in real time. The artist Sarah Montani shows the sculptures of the year 2022, which she realized in collaboration with her cousin Joey Montani (APTIQ).
Arranged chronologically and starting with the first work in augmented reality, the exhibition shows the first work of the artist duo, which was exhibited at the Biennale Artexpo in Venice in May 2022. At the same time follows the art project "Metasferes", which was exhibited at the 16th Skulptura, curated by Vera Noé, from May to November 2022. The 16th Skulptura was themed "Humans & Modernity". With more than 90 sculptures in public spaces and almost 50 works in the interiors, it has become one of the largest sculpture exhibitions in the German-speaking world, together with Bad Ragaz.
The artist's new approach shows how the ephemeral digital works 'create new realities and dimensions, inserting themselves into the viewer's environment and expanding beyond the limited plane of an image.' Her sculptures float weightlessly and mystically through the gallery.
The works have also inspired other art practitioners. Among others, installations were created at documenta fifteen - one of the world's most important exhibitions of contemporary art-under the artistic direction of Prof. Gerhard Knolmayer of Dusty Art Studios & Gallery from Vienna.
Further works follow, which were shown in co-creation with other artists at the Swissart Expo and at the Casa del Arte in Palma de Mallorca. Finally, the underwater artworks "Abyss-Spheres" has been presented on December 3, 2022 in Art District Wynwood during Art Basel Miami Beach Week. Stoa Now Gallery was present at Kunst Zurich 23 in the NFT Booth C7 and B8.
