Zermatt’s Floating Sculptures: Switzerland's first augmented reality sculpture trail
December 11, 2025 to March 31, 2026
Zermatt’s Floating Sculptures
Imagine walking through Zermatt with the Matterhorn before your eyes, and suddenly sculptures come to life, as if you were walking through a floating artwork.
Welcome to Switzerland's first augmented reality sculpture trail, open from December 11 2025 to March 31, 2026.
Valais artist Sarah Montani lets digital works of art fly freely through the village, defying gravity and playfully integrating themselves between the peaks and alleyways.
Whether at sunrise on the church square, between historic barns, or simply strolling through the narrow streets, take out your smartphone and the augmented reality sculptures will appear, without any app, QR code, or complicated installation. Just you, your device, and the art. Take photos, videos, discover the works, and share them with #zermattart.

The AR Sculpture Trail is for everyone: hikers, skiers, art lovers, partygoers, and anyone who likes to discover new things. The sculptures are geolocated, only visible in Zermatt, and transform the village into an interactive open-air gallery. You can find out where the magical sculptures are located on the website created specifically for this purpose.
It's as easy as this
1. Travel to Zermatt
2. Activate location services on your smartphone
3. Visit the website zermatt-art.com
4. Visit one of the listed locations
5. Experience the magic
Grand opening on December 11, 2025: Be there and experience how Zermatt lives digital, sustainable, and participatory culture. Here, art is not locked away in a museum; it flies, plays, and inspires until March 31, 2026.
Tech-friendly & data protection compliant: No app, no collection of personal data.
After the walk through the village, dance at the Electronic festival… Alpine air at 1,600 m. Visit magicmountainzermatt.ch!
After a sold-out premiere, the second wave is rolling in, louder, brighter, razor-clear. And yes: Europe’s first AR sculpture trail is right at the heart of it. No gimmick. Built to walk through, to “touch” (digitally), to share.
What to Expect
4,000 guests · 30 DJs & artists · 7 locations · 2 exhibitions · 1 AR sculpture trail (Europe’s first)
Bass that makes the slope hum. Art that turns your phone into a portal. Sun on your skin, snow on the peaks and you, right between it all, inside the beat.
Electronic Music & Art
Sound meets panorama. International acts push the altitude, not just the tempo:
Jan Blomqvist, BEOBÊ, Marc Gonen, Pauza, Nandu, Luna City Express, Kellerkind, Natascha Polké, Valentin Huedo, Ernesto Altés, Dangel Twins & Anthik, and many more.
They bring the frequencies, you bring the footwork. Show up, breathe in, let go.
Art as a Second Stage
Zermatt becomes a creative playground. Installations, performances, visuals, curated, surprising, close-up.
We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah Montani, Andrea Stahl, Patricia Reinhart, Marcel Rickli, Matthias Gubler, Valentin Pfisterer, and MOMO.
Nothing here is “side program”: art is a stage. And you’re a co-creator.
And this is a real photo of an augmented reality sculpture!
The mountains are real. The sculptures too, just augmented.
Scan. Wonder. Move through a gallery that grows along your route. Works respond to location, time, maybe even your pulse. No museum signs whispering “Do not touch.” Interaction required.
We used sora 2 to make the videos and photos above.
